Readying for Christmas

We actually decorated for Christmas on the first day of Advent this year. I'm glad we made it a priority this time around! We're still on the hunt for a good Christmas card photo, but along the way, we've taken these:

Both kids enjoy the nativity set. Emily doesn't have much patience for Caleb's attempts at playing with it (which usually involve knocking all the pieces off the hearth and then choosing one to munch on), but we've managed to maintain the peace most days.

Part of the battle for a photo of both kids is getting Caleb to look up at the camera. He is always so focused on whatever he's doing that he rarely glances up. I did catch his eyes (though not a smile) here.

In general, Caleb gets pretty excited when he sees babies and other children. He's not quite as enthused by baby Jesus, but he does like to examine the manger from time to time.

Emily's obsession with her baby dolls continues. She always wants to pose with one of them and reminded us yesterday that we still need to make scarves for all 12 of them before Christmas. Our to-do list just got a bit longer...

We weren't exactly angling for a Christmas card photo here (as I'm sure you can tell from Emily's mismatched ensemble), but she was insistent that we get a shot with her and "the twins" in their chairs in front of the tree.
